Flowers to tribute KH Zainul Arifin

The Hezbollah commander named as the National Hore based on the Presidential Decree No. 35, dated 4 March 1963, KH Zainul Arifin has reached the 100th anniversary of his death.

In honor of this, the big family of the former deputy prime minister  held a special ceremony to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the KH Zainul Arifin's death at the Kalibata Hore Cemetery in Jakarta on Sunday (1/11).<>

In addition to being attended by the relatives and descendants of KH Zainul Arifin, present also at the occassion were figures of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) such as KH Musthofa Zuhad Mughni (chairman), KH Arwani Faisal (vice chairman of the NU Deliberation Committee), NU Online individuals and scores of santri (students) of the KH Abdurrahman Wahid-led Ciganjur Islamic borading school.

The ceremony was held by reciting the history and the struggle of KH Zainul Arifin and hearing the remarks made by the family, PBNU  and conducting joint prayers.

The ceremony in commemorating the 100 year of the daeth of KH Zainul Arifin was also followed by launching a biography book of the late which will reportedly be published by the NU Center for Research and Development (Lajnah Ta'lif wan Nasr-NU).

KH Zainul Arifin was a NU figure shot dead in an incident to kill President Soekarno at the State Palace as performing Idul Adha prayers on Wednesday morning on March 14th, 1962. (nam)
